Wolf & Badger Fall & Winter 2026 Guide: Rain Coats, Heritage Knits, Boots and Party Velvet

The first properly cold morning always arrives a week before you're ready. You pull last winter's coat from the closet, notice the cuffs have gone shiny, and remember that the holiday party invitations are already stuck to the fridge.

Here's a calmer way to handle it. Wolf & Badger, the marketplace for independent designers, has its fall shop live on the US site right now, with a "Your Fall Re-Boot" edit, trench coats "for every forecast," a Cozy Season shop and a festive décor section. Below is a cold-weather wardrobe built from pieces listed there in October 2026, from the first rainy commute to the last party of December.

Before You Shop: How Holiday Timing Works Here

Wolf & Badger's delivery page didn't list holiday cutoff dates when we checked, so plan with the rules it does publish:

  • Each brand ships separately. An estimated delivery time for every brand appears at checkout and in your confirmation email. Deliveries usually land Monday to Friday, and the FAQ says to allow up to 5 days after dispatch.
  • Fees are per brand. US delivery is $10 per brand and free once you spend over $250. The site banner calls it free express shipping over $250.
  • Duties are already in the price for US shoppers, even on coats coming from Latvia or boots from the UK.
  • The return clock starts at delivery. You have 14 days to request a free label. If you buy a gift in October, that window may close before the holidays, so try the pieces on yourself as soon as they arrive.

Layer One: A Coat That Turns Rain Into an Entrance

RainSisters' Deep Emerald coat: black outside, emerald satin inside.

Most raincoats are something you put up with. The Black Coat With Emerald Green Lining: Deep Emerald from Latvian label RainSisters ($604) is something you'd wear on a dry day too. It has a fitted top and a full-circle skirt that swings when you walk. The emerald Italian satin lining flashes when the hem moves, and a matching tie belt marks the waist.

The brand lists waterproof fabric rated up to 10,000 mm, an adjustable hood, snap buttons and hidden side-seam pockets, so you can leave the umbrella at home.

Buy this if: you walk or commute through a wet fall and want one coat that also works over a party dress.

Want something shorter and lighter? Romania-based concept A trois makes a Beige Short Pleated Trench Coat in technical fabric ($229). It has a matte finish, a high collar, a black front zipper and a large black bow at the adjustable waist. It's one size, cut to suit XS to L, and it showed only one left when we checked.

Layer Two: Knits With a Story Woven In

A good fall knit makes you want to go outside. Welsh brand MABLI, founded in 2016, builds its collections around heritage Welsh blanket patterns, and its Carthen Neat Cotton Cardigan in Wicked ($272) shows that idea best. It's a slim-fit jacquard inspired by Welsh Tapestry, knitted in a compact medium-weight yarn with a round neck and deep ribbed cuffs and hem. Wear it buttoned as a top or open over a white tee. When we checked, XS had sold out and L was low.

For weekends, US label Ellsworth + Ivey's Block Ski Crewneck Sweater in Navy ($138) is a cotton-blend color-block knit with bold SKI lettering. The brand says it fits true to size; size down for a fitted look.

Then add a little color at the neck. Fall's "Terracotta Tones" edit on Wolf & Badger includes Norwegian brand tirillm's Ayla Small Neck Scarf in pure cashmere, Burnt Orange ($227). It's small enough to knot under a blazer collar and bright enough to wake up a gray sweater.

Layer Three: Boots for Puddles, Pavements and Parties

Shoes are where a winter outfit is won or lost. EVERAU's Plover Ankle Platform Boots in Chestnut were $182 when we checked, down from $202. Cow suede and a textured knit panel outside, sheepskin wool lining and insole inside, on an EVA rubber sole with a platform of about 4 cm, in US 5 to 11. Picture them with leggings and an oversized knit on a Saturday coffee run.

For the office and evenings out, Valentina Rangoni, founded by two Florentine sisters, makes the Zaria Tall Boot in Black Cashmere Suede ($420). It's a sleek tall shaft on a block heel that tucks easily under a midi skirt. Sizes run US 6 to 10, and the 10 had already sold out.

The Party Season: Velvet, Jewel Tones and One Good Earring

Velvet is the fabric of December, and two independent British labels make strong cases for it. Me & Thee's Raya-Rosa Burgundy Velvet Dress ($361) is a stretch velvet midi with a ruched one-shoulder neckline. It cinches at the waist and falls into an asymmetric hem that moves as you walk. The brand says all its styles are made in the UK and are limited edition. Sizes run US 4 to 12.

If emerald suits you more than wine, Rumour London's Scarlett Velvet Dress in Emerald Green ($571) has a deep V neckline, long sleeves and draped detail at the waist. A thigh-high front slit and a full lining finish it. The label suggests metallic accessories, and it was down to its last few pieces in US 4 to 10.

Keep the jewelry simple. A New York label's Gold Heart Bow Earrings ($58) are 18K gold plated stainless steel, listed as tarnish resistant and lightweight, so you can wear them from dinner through dancing.

For Him: A Wool Overcoat at a Fall Markdown

The men's outerwear section had some sharp markdowns. British brand Guards London's Coldstream Wool Check Overcoat in Grey Microcheck was $232, down from $701: a wool-rich check with a point collar, concealed button front and half lining that layers easily over a knit. Sizes go by chest (36 to 48 inches), and several were already gone.

Loom & Cove's Antique Buchanan Christmas Stocking ($102) is 100% wool tartan, designed in Edinburgh. It's cut from wool offcuts, so no two stockings are quite the same.

A Simple Fall-to-Holiday Shopping Plan

  1. Now: coat and boots. These are the pieces where sizes were already selling out in October, and you'll wear them for months.
  2. Next: knits and the party dress. Order these early enough to try them on at home and still use the 14-day return window.
  3. Then: gifts and décor. Check each brand's estimated delivery at checkout, and group items from the same brand to pay one $10 fee, or cross $250 for free delivery.
  4. Before paying: the footer offers 10% off when you sign up for the newsletter. The code arrives by email, and Wolf & Badger says it can't add discount codes after checkout.

The Bottom Line

A good winter wardrobe is a few strong pieces: one coat that handles the rain, one knit with real character, boots you'll actually wear and one velvet dress for the night that counts. Wolf & Badger's independent designers cover all four, with duties included and free returns. Start with the pieces that sell out first, and check our Wolf & Badger deals page before you check out.
