BON CHARGE Review 2026: Made-to-Order Sunglasses in Your Prescription, Readers Up to +4.00

Picture the first truly bright afternoon of a long weekend: a rooftop table, a glass sweating on the ledge, the sun bouncing off every window across the street. You reach for your sunglasses and, for once, they're a pair you actually love — a blush-pink cat-eye, a round metal frame straight out of a vinyl sleeve, or a wraparound that looks ready for the trail. And if you need a prescription, the lenses are already made to it.

That's the corner of BON CHARGE we're covering here: its eyewear. We went through the brand's sunglasses lineup, frame sizes, lens options, prices and policies in October 2026. Here's what you get, which frame suits which face, and how to keep the bill down.

The Story: Glasses Came First

BON CHARGE's About page says co-founders Andy and Katie Mant started the company in Australia, and that glasses were the very first product, launched in 2017. The founding line is a familiar frustration for anyone who's shopped for specialty eyewear: Andy was "frustrated by the lack of function and style in existing options," so he created his own.

Today the store sells a lot more than glasses, but eyewear is still a huge part of the catalog. Count the frame names and you'll find more than twenty adult styles — Melissa, Lennon, Maverick, Onyx, Tortoise Shell, Galaxy, Crystal, Echo, Denver, Hudson and more — plus a kids' range with names like Theo and Elsa.

What Makes It Different: Your Lenses, Built to Order

Most sunglasses brands sell one lens and leave prescription wearers to fend for themselves. BON CHARGE builds three versions of nearly every frame, so you can choose by how you actually see:

  • Non-prescription: the standard sunglasses, with brown or grey lenses.
  • Readers: magnification from +0.25 to +4.00 in 0.25 steps, so you can read a menu or a paperback poolside without swapping pairs.
  • Prescription: you upload your prescription on the product page, and the FAQ says lenses can be single-vision or multifocal, made in the company's optics lab.

On the sunglasses pages, the lens specs read "100% UV Blocking" and "Lab Grade Anti-Glare." Frames are listed as "lightweight handcrafted acetate" on most styles, with metal frames on others such as Lennon. Every pair is made to order. BON CHARGE says sunglasses, readers and prescription orders take 5–10 business days to craft before they ship, which is the trade-off for getting lenses made to your numbers.

There's even a custom frame service: send in a frame you already own and have the brand's lenses fitted to it.

The Lineup: Prices by Frame and Lens

Pricing is refreshingly simple. Most adult frames share one price ladder; a few statement frames cost more.

Melissa or Tortoise Shell: soft glam or vintage edge?

Melissa is a blush-pink acetate cat-eye listed as a Small/Medium fit, with 52mm lenses and a 130mm width. It's the pair that turns a white tee and jeans into a look. Buy this if your face is on the narrower side and you want something feminine and light. Tortoise Shell is a slimmer rectangle that BON CHARGE calls a "strong fashion statement and vintage inspired design": 53mm lenses, a 17mm bridge and a short 37mm lens height. Buy this if you like a low-profile, '90s-leaning frame.

Maverick or Onyx: for bigger faces and bigger days

Both are listed as a Large fit, and the brand's FAQ points large faces to Maverick. Maverick is the aviator, "classic, vintage and never out of fashion," with 56mm lenses and a 50mm lens height for generous coverage. Onyx is the athletic one, "strong and vigorous" in the brand's words, with a 63mm lens and 140mm width that wraps around the face. Buy Onyx if your sunglasses spend more time on a bike path than at brunch.

Readers or prescription?

If you only need help up close, Readers cost just $20 more than standard frames on most styles. If you wear glasses all day, Prescription is the one, and it's also the pair you can't return (more on that below), so double-check your numbers before you upload.

  • Readers users who want one pair for the beach book and the boardwalk.

  • Planners who can order a couple of weeks ahead of a trip.

How to Save at BON CHARGE

  1. Check the sitewide sale. When we visited in October 2026, the homepage banner read "Save 25% Site Wide" with the discount auto-applied at checkout. Confirm it shows in your cart before you pay.
  2. Clear $125 for free shipping. Any non-prescription adult sunglasses already does it on their own.
  3. Pick Readers over Prescription if you only need magnification. It's $60 less on most frames.
  4. Split the cost with Klarna's 4 interest-free payments, offered on product pages.
  5. Check our deals page before you check out.

BON CHARGE Eyewear FAQ

Can I get BON CHARGE sunglasses in my prescription?

Yes. Most frames come in a Prescription version. You upload your prescription on the product page, and lenses can be single-vision or multifocal.

How do I know which size to choose?

Each product lists a frame fit (for example Small/Medium for Melissa, Large for Maverick and Onyx), and the size guide gives lens, bridge, arm, height and width measurements. The FAQ suggests Maverick for larger faces.

How long does delivery take?

Plan on 5–10 business days for crafting, then shipping time on top: 2–4 business days with DHL Express, longer with the free untracked option.

Can I return sunglasses?

The standard policy allows returns within 30 days of receipt for an exchange, refund or store credit. Prescription and reading glasses aren't returnable unless faulty, and you pay return postage.

Our Verdict

BON CHARGE's sunglasses are a strong pick if you want a real fashion frame with lenses built to your eyes: readers up to +4.00, single-vision or multifocal prescriptions, 100% UV blocking listed on every pair, and a 1-year warranty behind it. Go Melissa for soft glam, Lennon for round-frame cool, Maverick for an aviator, and Onyx for weekends outdoors. Just order ahead, measure twice and remember that Rx pairs are final. Check our BON CHARGE deals page before you order so you catch the current offer.
